Case Study
BACKGROUND: Precision Coating Technology & Manufacturing Inc. has had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients, each with highly individual requirements. Our greatest asset has always been our ability to create custom production processes specific to the needs of our clients' project goals. Our materials application expertise allows us to develop specialized production environments to suit individual product runs. An example of our abilities and overall capacity for specialized development includes the following case study.
CLIENT: Johnson & Johnson
CLIENT PROJECT: Johnson & Johnson was in the process of development for a containment device that would be used during open heart surgery to house instruments, fiber-optics and cameras during typical procedures. Product requirements included the need for an inert, non-reflective housing (coating) that would protect the base aluminum construction of the instrument.
OUR INVOLVEMENT: Johnson & Johnson approached us with a prototype model created in a lab environment, and discussed their specific production needs and hurdles they faced. Through our dialogue we addressed specific areas of production that would have to be addressed in order to produce the quality and quantity that was needed. We demonstrated our ability to adapt our knowledge and experience to specific project requirements and our ability to formulate specialized processes to achieve full production capacity.
SOLUTION: Precision Coating Technology & Manufacturing Inc. developed a multi-step production process, tested our implementation, analyzed the results and finalized our methods. We created a humidity controlled environment (the "white room") as the central hub of the production environment. We devised new methods of tooling to handle specific tasks for production, and worked closely with our coating materials vendors to formulate coatings specific to the needs of Johnson & Johnson.
RESULT: Precision Coating Technology & Manufacturing Inc. was able to work closely with Johnson & Johnson to find a solution to their production requirements. We perform in the area that we specialize in - the development of custom tailored production processes. We have been able to meet and exceed production requirements as outlined by Johnson & Johnson to the point of producing 2,000 units (4,000 matched pieces) each week.
