Frequently Asked Questions About Water and Wastewater Treatment Coatings
Have questions about coating your water or wastewater treatment components? Here are answers to what engineers and manufacturers in this industry ask us most.
What metals and substrates can you coat for water treatment applications?
Our coating processes work on a wide range of metal substrates, including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, cast iron, brass, and copper. The right coating system and pretreatment approach depends on the base material, so let our team know what you are working with when you reach out.
How do you prepare parts before coating them?
Surface preparation is where coating performance begins or fails. Our 5-stage pretreatment system starts with an acid etch to remove rust and laser scale, followed by a fresh water rinse, a buffered wash that applies an iron phosphate conversion coating, a second rinse, and a final rust-inhibiting sealant. This process is compatible with both ferrous and nonferrous substrates.
Can you coat large components used in treatment facilities?
Yes. Our conveyor line accommodates parts up to 44 inches wide, 66 inches tall, and 144 inches long. For components outside those dimensions, batch processing is available. If you have an oversized or non-standard part, reach out and we can discuss your options.
How do I know which coating process is right for my application?
That depends on several factors: the substrate, the chemical environment the part will operate in, the required film thickness, and whether friction reduction is also a priority. Our team can review your application and recommend the process that matches your performance requirements. The best starting point is to describe your component, its service environment, and any existing coating failures you have experienced.
Do you work with manufacturers who need production-volume quantities?
Yes. Our 440-foot conveyor line is designed for high-volume, repeatable production runs. We work with OEM manufacturers and equipment suppliers who need consistent, reliable finishing as part of their regular production schedule, not just one-off projects.
What is the lead time for coating services?
Lead times vary based on part volume, coating process, and current production schedule. The best way to get an accurate timeline for your project is to submit a quote request with your part specifications and quantity. Our team will respond with a realistic schedule based on your needs.
Do you offer pickup and delivery for treatment equipment components?
Pickup and delivery service is available for select clients within a 50-mile radius of our facility in Denver, PA. If you are outside that range and located in Pennsylvania, the Mid-Atlantic region, Southern New England, or the Midwest, we can discuss the best way to get your parts to and from our facility.
